Promotion and Relegation from National 1 2025/6 Season
Updated RFU Regulations
- Teams finishing in 12th, 13th, and 14th in National 1 are relegated to National 2
- Teams finishing in first position in the three National 2 leagues are promoted to National 1
- National 1
- Highest placed team in National 1 who meet the Champ minimum operating standards will be promoted to the Champ
- Team finishing 14th in the Champ will be relegated to National 1
- Champ/National 1 play off
- The second and third highest placed teams in National 1 who meet the Champ minimum operating standards will play each other on the highest placed club's ground. The winner will play away to the 13th placed club in the Champ. The winner of this game will play in the Champ and the loser in National 1
- National 1/National 2 play off (There are three National 2 leagues)
- Team finishing 11th in National 1 will play at home against the second placed team from National 2 with the poorest playing record
- The second placed team from National 2 with the best playing record will play at home against the second placed team from National 2 with the second-best playing record
- The winners of the above games will play each other on the ground of the club winning the game involving the club finishing 11th in National 1. The winners of this game will play in National 1 and the other three teams will play in National 2
- All play offs will be played according to the rules for the higher league club involved.
In National 1 teams finishing in positions 4-10 will remain in National 1 without further matches.
